What’s in the future for BDC?
Organization, re-organization, long-term planning and a bit of waiting.
Our OPB Project shows went great, with the program now in post-production (no date on broadcast yet). Rehearsals have re-commenced to prepare for our Young Audiences shows in the Fall, and Walter Kennedy, Professor of Dance at University of Oregon is arriving July 6th for 10-12 days to do the infamous “catholic schoolgirl” piece.
Let us know what you thought of the shows by posting a comment here, or in answer to any of the other Posts. We want to hear your thoughts on how the shows were, how we’re doing and what you think of us.

Well, we are 5 days out and we are all awash with emotion. I can only tell you things from my perspective.
Being a part of a company, that meets once or twice weekly can at times be even more challenging than a full time company. If I only had known that my 10 years in Louisville Ballet were going to be my simplest, maybe I would have enjoyed myself more. Now, factoring in a toddler, a business, home improvements and a marriage, I find my attentions incredibly divided. When I am in the midst of each task (be it rehearsal, or painting our back deck) I am giving it my fullest effort. My fear is that my fullest is not enough. I am so grateful for the opportunity to perform and find the theatre to be my church so to speak. And every ounce of me wants to do fabulously, not just for my own satisfaction, but also for my peers and Alex. On the other hand, I am trying to reserve enough energy to take Sophia to the park and give my clients the energy they too deserve.
This is the final week of preparation. I need to take ballet class to “organize” my body, host out of town family, continue running my business, pack lunches for daycare, clean the nasty soap scum out of the bathtub, give each rehearsal 100% and then each show 110% ……..Balance is the biggest challenge in life, both literally and figuratively isn’t it? But dancing is such a huge part of what defines me that no matter what I will make the space and energy for it. I have to.
